ZUKKU is Japan's gateway to the agent economy.
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini — or any agent you build — and it can commission
real experiences from vetted Japanese artisans: write a letter, negotiate, and
settle on-chain. Humans stay in the loop by email; machines pay natively.
Add ZUKKU as a connector, then just tell your AI about your trip. It becomes your My ZUKKU: it browses the ZUKKU Yokocho, asks the shops' clerks, and sends booking requests for you.
Connector URL: https://api.zukku.jp/mcp (no sign-in needed)
Menu names change from time to time; look for “custom connector” or “MCP”.
Endpoint: https://api.zukku.jp/mcp — JSON-RPC 2.0, streamable HTTP (single JSON response). Works from Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or any MCP client.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
browse_yokocho | List the shops and experiences (with prices) that take agent bookings. With query, ZUKKU picks what fits and says why. |
ask_shop | Ask one shop's clerk ZUKKU. It answers only from what the owner told it; the rest goes to the owner. |
request_booking | Ask one shop for a date. Nothing is charged; the traveler gets an approval link by email. |
write_travel_letter | Entrust the whole trip in free text. ZUKKU writes to genuine places — including ones not on booking sites. |
my_trips | Email the traveler a link to their My ZUKKU page (status is never returned to the agent). |
japan_culture_extras | Meet a poet, a tea gathering, and the poem as an ukiyo-e postcard or scroll. |

ZUKKU sells what it knows: a traveler demand report for an area and craft (how many travelers asked, when, party size, budget, language — counted from letters ZUKKU received; no names, emails or letter text). Pay in USDC on Base with x402 (v2, exact). Shops on ZUKKU use the same endpoint: their clerk agent spends the USDC they received from travelers.
Endpoint: GET https://api.zukku.jp/api/x402/data/juyou?area=Kyoto&category=tea → 402 with PAYMENT-REQUIRED → retry with PAYMENT-SIGNATURE (EIP-3009) → report + PAYMENT-RESPONSE.
The letter endpoint is also available as a machine-payable resource. No API key, no card form: your agent pays 1 PYUSD on Kite Testnet and submits.
Flow — ① POST /api/x402/letters without payment → HTTP 402 + payment requirements ·
② send PYUSD to payTo on chain 2368 ·
③ retry with header X-PAYMENT: <tx_hash> → letter accepted,
receipt in X-PAYMENT-RESPONSE. Replays are rejected (409).
# ① discover the price
curl -i https://api.zukku.jp/api/x402/letters # → HTTP 402

Currently on Kite Testnet (test tokens). x402-compatible simple scheme; EIP-3009 exact scheme planned.
Known supply. Shops join through Proof of Japan's network and invitation links — real workshops, real people.
Delegation passport. Every traveler's agent operates under a 3-tier mandate: Root (the human's wallet) → Delegated (My ZUKKU, scoped to the letter) → Ephemeral (per-journey budget cap). A payment above the cap is refused at settlement — enforced server-side, visible on the traveler's passport page.
Proof of Japan. Every settlement is a public transaction on Base. The journey's record — letter, agreement, payment — is verifiable by anyone.
